Christian Boupassia

Christian BOUPASSIA is President of the Union Minière du Gabon (UMIGA) and Managing Director of the School of Mines and Metallurgy of Moanda – Gabon (E3MG), a higher establishment resulting from the partnership between the Gabonese State and the Compagnie Minière of Ogooué (Comilog), a subsidiary of the French mining group Eramet. 

After obtaining a doctorate on the theme of the study of soils and mining residues in the Moanda region in the South-East of Gabon: Prospects for the rehabilitation of the manganese plateau of Bangombé at the University of Burgundy, he joined Comilog as a Geologist seconded to the Niobium and Rare Earths polymetallic deposit project in Mabounié (Lambaréné). He returned as a Design Engineer at the Quarry, then Head of the Quarry Group and Operations Manager. 

He then joined the Eramet group as Mining Manager within the Maboumine Project team, before returning as Deputy Director and Head of Production Department at the Moanda Industrial Complex (CIM). He will then join the Technical and Operational Excellence Department as Head of the Medium-Long Term Mining Exploration and Planning Department, in charge of the geological reconnaissance of all peripheral deposits and the planning of their joint exploitation. 

After the relaunch of non-concession exploration, he took over the management of E3MG, which he combines with UMIGA, an association bringing together around ten companies in research and mining. 

Passionate about the world of rocks, and known for his rigor, his area of ​​expertise includes research and exploration, mining, evaluation and valorization of mineral resources.
