Modou Diouf

Director of Geology – Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines (Senegal)

Modou DIOUF is a Design Geological Engineer, a graduate of the National School of Mines and Geology (ENSMG – formerly IST/UCAD), and a doctoral candidate in Petrology, Geochemistry and Metallogeny at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (UCAD). He also holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Financial Engineering from the African Institute of Management (IAM Dakar) and a Master’s degree in Public Infrastructure Management from the Faculty of Economics and Management (FASEG – UCAD). With over ten years of experience in the mining sector, he has held several strategic positions, notably in the Douta gold projects (African Star Resources/Thor Exploration) and the development of the Falémé Mining and Steel Complex, led by the Société des Mines de Fer du Sénégal Oriental (MIFERSO). These experiences have enabled him to develop in-depth expertise in the exploration, structuring, and promotion of mining projects.

Since April 2025, he has held the position of Director of Geology at the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum, and Mines. In this role, he began overseeing strategic projects such as the acquisition of geoscientific data, the search for construction materials, and the implementation of the Senegal Geoscientific Information System (SIGEOS), a key tool for strengthening the governance, transparency, and attractiveness of the extractive sector.
