Mr Ismaël Diakité

Mr. Ismael Diakité is the High Representative of the SMB-Winning Consortium. He is a Senior Advisor in project development and monitoring with informed opinions required on issues of social responsibility, sustainable development and governance, management of relations with the Government as well as major Guinean and foreign stakeholders. He carries the image and reputation of the Winning Consortium in Guinea and is its Spokesperson.

His contribution to the negotiations and approvals of three (3) Agreements for the Consortium’s latest projects concerning blocks 1 and 2 of iron ore at Mont Simandou as well as railway and port infrastructure as part of the Co-development and development initiative. the creation of the joint enterprise called the Compagnie du Transguinéen, was remarkable.

Previously, Mr. Diakité worked for 10 years for Rio Tinto in various management positions in Guinea and abroad. He spent five (5) years as a member of the Executive Committee of Rio Tinto Diamonds & Minerals, Managing Director and Country Manager of Rio Tinto in Guinea and Director of SIMFER S.A, the project company for blocks 3 and 4 of Simandou, considered one of the richest and most extensive iron ore reserves in the world.

From 2014 to 2016, he chaired the Guinean Private Sector Consultation Platform, a Public-Private dialogue tool leading to the creation of the Guinea Business Forum and the Subcontracting and Partnership Exchange to support the promotion of Local Content, one of the major pillars of Guinean mining policy.

Mr. Ismael Diakité holds a Bachelor’s degree in mining planning and management, a Master’s degree in development economics from the University of Wales, a specialist postgraduate diploma (DESS) in policy and public management from the University of Paris XI associated with the Paris Institute of Business Administration and Management (Ex IHEOM).

Very familiar with the programs of bilateral and international Development Partners, including the World Bank, USAID and AFD (French Development Agency), also involved in the mobilization of financing resources and the financial structuring of major projects, Mr. Diakité has a vast network of relationships and notable experience in the management, evaluation and implementation of mining, infrastructure and integrated energy projects.
