Mrs Nadjiba Bourenane

Nadjiba BOURENAN holds a state engineering degree awarded by the University of Science and Technology of Bab-Ezzouar in 1996, followed by postgraduate studies at USTHB and the National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine in Nancy (National School of Geology).

After a term at USTHB (1997), she joined the Ministry of Energy and Mines (General Directorate of Mines, DGM) in 1998 as a project engineer (1998-2003), and then was appointed to senior positions by presidential decree as:

  • Head of Studies and Deputy Director of Mineral Resource Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mines (DGM) from 2003-2011,
  • Director of Mineral Resources from 2011-2014 at the Ministry of Energy and Mines (DGM),
  • Head of the Geology and Mineral Resources Division from 2014 to 2022 at the Ministry of Industry and Mines and then at the Ministry of Mines (DGM),
  • Director of Mining Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mines from January-May 2023,
  • Director General of Mines at the Ministry of Energy and Mines from May 17, 2023, to present.

Ms. BOURENAN has held several mandates as administrator and chairperson in several boards of directors of companies in the mining sector. She has also participated in think tanks on mining strategy and development.
