As the professor for resource economics at the Technical University of Munich, Dr. Ikonnikova works on the diverse economic, environmental, and social issues of resource production and supply. With over 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Ikonnikova holds expertise in energy economics, with the special focus on the integration of traditional and clean technologies, environmental and socio-economic footprint of resource extraction, and security of supply in the international trade. Her research on decarbonization and (intra- and inter-generational) sustainability, Dr. Ikonnikova complements with the studies of mining for metals and minerals critical to support the envisaged transformation.
With PhD in Economics and MS degree in Applied Physics and Mathematics, Dr. Ikonnikova works in academia in close collaboration with industry and government representatives to ensure the practicality of the proposed solutions. With the diversity in her background and experience, Dr. Ikonnikova specializes on modelling complex systems, integrating bottom-up perspectives, and applying advanced AI and statistical approaches to simulate system evolution and dynamics.
