Seasoned Mining Executive with over 35 years of on the ground experience across Africa, the Americas and Europe, within prominent mining companies including BHP Billiton, Alcoa and most recently IAMGOLD. During his time with IAMGOLD, Oumar held several key leadership positions including Regional Vice-President West Africa and Senior-Vice President External Affairs and Sustainability.
Recognized for his strategic approach and strong commitment to sustainability and ESG principles, Oumar often played a pivotal role in driving the development and operation of world-class mining ventures in complex operational and stakeholder landscapes. He constantly promoted responsible mining through operational excellence, innovation, and shared values with all stakeholders.
Oumar holds a MBA from Webster University, graduated on Geological Engineering from the University of Dakar (Senegal) in Geological Engineering and also holds a Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors Designation (ICD.D). He is bilingual, English and French.
