Dr. Ibrahima GASSAMA

Holding a PhD in Structural Geology from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Dr. Ibrahima GASSAMA is a leading expert in mineral exploration with over 10 years of experience.

He has held several senior positions in the mining industry, including as a geological expert within the Managem Group in the development of the BOTO gold project.

Since his appointment as head of the Senegalese Directorate General of Mines and Geology, Dr. GASSAMA’s strategic vision combines scientific rigor, technical expertise, and administrative efficiency, all in the service of the sustainable and structuring development of the Senegalese extractive sector. Furthermore, Dr. Gassama has distinguished himself through his commitment to research and his high-quality scientific output, demonstrating his in-depth understanding of West African geological systems. His work on the lithostructural evolution of the Birimian formations of the Kédougou-Kéniéba inlier has provided significant advances in our understanding of the processes involved in the development of economically important mineralization. He is also the co-author of several publications in international scientific journals.
