Tidiane Barry

Tidiane Barry, General Manager of the Essakane Mine in Burkina Faso since 2022, was appointed IAMGOLD’s Vice President for West Africa in November 2024.

Since 2008 within IAMGOLD, Tidiane Barry has contributed through his various responsibilities to the creation and development of the ESSAKANE mine, the first world-class mine in Burkina Faso, referenced as a leader in Corporate Social Responsibility.

Between 2018 and 2020, Tidiane also held the role of Senior Director of Global Supply Chain for IAMGOLD in Canada.

His in-depth knowledge of the issues surrounding the African mining sector in general and the Burkinabe mining sector in particular and the success of Essakane Mine as a partner of choice for the State and local communities, earned him the presidency of the Chamber of Mines of Burkina Faso between 2017 and 2021. Tidiane has thus worked to promote the country’s mining sector, basing his vision on the establishment of a win-win partnership between mining operators and stakeholders such as the Government and local communities.

He was a founding member and patron of the local branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum-CIM.

Tidiane wears the distinction of Chevalier de l’Ordre de l’Étalon of Burkina Faso.
